For many new parents, an infant swing can seem like a lifesaver. Sometimes, babies who won't sleep any other way will be soothed and relaxed by theswaying of an infant swing, and will drift right off to sleep, allowing exhausted moms and dads the chance to shower or eat or nap themselves.
But like any other infant product, swings should be safe for babies, and parents should be able to rest assured that while their baby is being lulled tosleep, he or she is safe from the risk of injury.
Now, one popular infant swing has been recalled as a fall hazard, and parents are cautioned to discontinue its use immediately.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced that Fisher Price is voluntarily recalling some 34,000 of its Cradle 'n Swing infant swings. The company issued the recall of these swings after receiving two reports that seat pegs had come out from the seat, causing the seat to fall. FisherPrice states that no injuries have been reported in association with the seat peg issue.
The recall affects the following Fisher Price infant swings:
Each of these swings features two swinging motions, rocking the child front-to-back as in a typical swing, or side-to-side in more of a rocking fashion.
According to the recall notice, parents are advised to immediately stop placing their children in the swing and to contact the company for revised assemblyinstructions.
