On Monday, the OSBI announced the arrest of a Moore process server accused of sexually assaulting women in his office. Investigators say that they interviewed11 women who claimed that Robert Vincent Wonsch, 34, offered to negotiate reduced fees in exchange for sexual favors. At least five women said thatWonsch sexually assaulted them.
Some women said that Wonsch propositioned them in his office when they came for help serving divorce papers; at least one said her children were presentwhen he propositioned her. Other women say that the man groped, hugged, kissed, or fondled them without their consent, and one says he pinned her againstthe wall and refused to let her leave his office. In one case, a woman says she told Wonsch that she could not afford his fees, and he offered to dothe work and allow her to pay at a later date. Instead, she says, he came to where she worked at a tanning salon and forced her to perform oral sexas payment.
Wonsch was arrested on Monday and booked into the Cleveland County Jail. As of this writing, he is held without bond pending a bond hearing set for January8.
On Thursday, the defendant was charged with 17 criminal counts:
Since the news of Wonsch's arrest, at least five more women have come forward with allegations against the man. OSBI agents say they will continue to investigateand will interview these women and any others who may come forward over the next several weeks. If there is evidence of additional sexual assault,the defendant will face more charges.
The penalties the defendant faces if convicted of the charges against him are severe. First degree rape is punishable by 5 years to life in prison. Forciblesodomy carries a maximum sentence of 20 years. Sexual battery is a felony sex crime punishable by a maximum of 10 years in prison. Each of these crimesis a Level 3 sex offense. If convicted of any of those three crimes, the defendant will be required to register as an Oklahoma sex offender for life.
